Communicating while abroad

You might find this interesting if you're coming to Paris to run, cheer us on, or you plan on travelling abroad at some point in the future and want to know how to phone home or be phoned cheaply.

  1. Hmmm...where can I get an international phone card for a pay phone, though? Because Beavis and his tour group will only be gone a week, the tour guide suggested nixing the whole cell phone thing and just going with cards so the kids can quickly update their parents as to arrival, etc.

  2. In Italy you buy international phone cards in Tobacco shops (recognizable by giant T sign hanging outside). Just need to let them know where he's planning to call (USA)... Also, when travelling, the best rule is "no news is good news"... ;)
